What is MCP and why does it matter for hospitality?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard, created by Anthropic and now part of the Linux Foundation, that connects AI agents with real data and tools. In hospitality, it means your assistant can read your recipe costing, P&L, and inventory without you exporting anything, and accurately answer complex day-to-day questions.
Does it work with ChatGPT or Perplexity?
Works with any MCP client: Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Manus, Gemini, Cursor, Copilot, Grok, and more. Since it's an open standard, any assistant that supports remote MCP connectors can connect to Miselup.
Is it secure? Can it see other businesses?
You log in on the Miselup page (OAuth), the assistant gets a limited, revocable token (not your password). Isolation is enforced by the server's RLS, just like in the app. Your data never mixes with other businesses' data.
Can it modify or delete my important data?
Today, writing covers the same ground as the dashboard: the full catalog (ingredients, preps, recipes, techniques, smallwares, and suppliers), your offer (à la carte menus, set menus, and buffets), customers with their price lists, sales orders, catering events, and daily operations too—closing the P&L (sales and expenses), inventory, lots, HACCP temperature control, production orders, and purchase orders with replenishment and receiving. It has no access to billing, user management, or settings. Records are “deactivated” with soft delete—history is kept and you can recover them—and the few hard deletes are narrowly scoped with safeguards (for example, an order can only be deleted while draft or cancelled).
What plan do I need?
Basic reading (business overview, recipe costing, daily P&L) and day-to-day writing (catalog, offer, customers, orders, events, and closing the P&L) work with all plans, including the free one, within each plan's quotas. Advanced analysis (month-to-date totals, valued inventory, profitability by dish, and ingredient Pareto) and inventory, lots, HACCP, production, and purchasing operations—including the production order linked to a sales order—require a Pro or Advanced plan.
Who should use the MCP at my business?
Whoever you decide — there's no required hierarchy. The natural pattern: the manager or head chef runs the day-to-day from the Miselup dashboard, while the owner, the executive manager, or the director of a restaurant group asks questions and gives instructions from Claude Desktop or Claude Code, without opening the dashboard. And if your manager is tech-savvy, they can use it too. Each user signs in with their own account and can only see and touch their own business.
What do I need to install?
No installation needed: just your Miselup account and an MCP-compatible assistant. Add the URL https://mcp.miselup.pro/mcp in your assistant's connector settings and log in with your account. No Node.js, no config files.
How much does it cost?
Nothing extra. The MCP is included in your Miselup plan during early access. No additional cost.
