Custom categories, tags and the Miselup Roadmap
Customize the categories, cuisine types, sale units and tags of your preparations, and see in the Roadmap what we are building.
Updated on October 19, 2026
This article covers two unrelated screens of the menu that are both worth knowing: Account → Categories, where you adapt the dropdowns of your preparations to the way you work, and Platform → Roadmap, where you see where Miselup is headed.
What can I customize in «Categories»?
Go to Account → Categories. The page is titled «Categories, cuisines, units & tags» and explains itself: «Customize the dropdowns for your preparations. What you create here shows up when creating or editing recipes.»
It has five blocks:
| Block | What it is for |
|---|---|
| «Base preparation categories» | Classify your intermediate preparations: sauces, stocks, doughs, creams… |
| «Menu categories» | Classify your final preparations: starters, mains, desserts… |
| «Cuisine types» | Cuisine styles; they work for both intermediate and final ones. |
| «Serving units» | How you sell your final preparations: portion, glass, tray… |
| «Tags» | Cross-cutting color tags: vegan, spicy, seasonal, TOP sellers… |
These dropdowns appear in the preparation forms. Whatever you create shows up there right away. In the preparation lists you can filter by category and cuisine type. Serving units do not touch your costings: the kg, g, l, ml and unit measures stay as they are.
What is mine and what comes from the Miselup catalog?
Categories, cuisine types and sale units have two lists:
- «From the Miselup catalog»: the base that comes ready-made. It shows with a padlock and is read-only: it can’t be renamed or deleted («Suggested by Miselup — not editable»).
- «Yours»: the ones you add. These can be renamed and deleted.
If one is missing, create it yourself. Tags are different: there is no catalog, all of them belong to your organization.
How do I create a category, cuisine type or unit?
- Open Account → Categories and find the block you need.
- Type the name in the field: «New category for …», «New cuisine type (nikkei, zero-km, tex-mex…)» or «New sale unit (serving, glass, tray…)».
- Press «Add» or the Enter key.
A confirmation appears. Rules worth knowing:
- The name is required and duplicates aren’t allowed, whatever the capitalization, not even against the Miselup catalog.
- Maximum length: 60 characters for categories and cuisine types, 40 for sale units and tags.
You can also do it without leaving the form: next to the «Category», «Cuisine type» or «Sale unit» field of each sheet there is a «Manage» link that opens the same manager in a window.
What happens to my recipes if I rename or delete one?
- Rename. Click the pencil, type the new name and confirm. Your preparations that used the old name update on their own, so none is left orphaned.
- Delete one no recipe uses. It is simply deleted.
- Delete one your recipes do use. Miselup tells you how many and lets you choose: «Move to …» another one on the list or «Leave them without a category» (for cuisines, «Leave them without a cuisine type»; for units, «Leave them without a unit»). Then confirm with «Delete category» (or «Delete cuisine type» / «Delete unit»).
How do I use tags?
Tags classify your preparations across everything and show on each sheet. On a sheet click «Add tag», search for an existing one or type a new name and click «Create …»: it is created on the spot, in the color you pick from a palette of ten. In Account → Categories → «Tags» you can rename them, change their color or delete them.
Deleting a tag removes it from every preparation that had it, but it doesn’t affect the recipes themselves.
Who can edit them?
Management users only. Each create, change or delete is checked when you save, and the lowest role (employee) gets a no-permission message. If your access is limited and Miselup says you can’t, ask the owner or an administrator (more on roles in management users, roles and areas). You don’t need any specific plan to change the dropdowns: the menu entry is visible to every management user.
What is the Miselup Roadmap?
It is the platform’s roadmap, as a board with three columns:
| Column | What it means |
|---|---|
| Ideas | «Things we’re considering.» |
| In progress | «Being built right now.» |
| Shipped | «Already live on the platform.» |
Each card has a title and a short description. On the public site, «Shipped» and «In progress» cards also say since when; ideas carry no date. Some cards include screenshots that you can enlarge by clicking them.
Where do I see it?
- Inside the app: Platform → Roadmap. Every management user sees it, on any plan, and it is read-only.
- On the public website: miselup.pro/en/roadmap. The same board, no account needed.
It is updated as we go and kept by the Miselup team. Screenshots only show, in the app and on the public site, when the team has marked them as public.
What does the «Beta … (View roadmap)» label in the menu mean?
At the bottom of the side menu you will see the platform version («Beta …») with the text «(View roadmap)». It is a shortcut to the Roadmap. With the menu collapsed you only see the version number, which also leads to the Roadmap. On the public site, the footer shows the same: «Beta … · Roadmap».
Can I vote on or suggest features from the Roadmap?
No. The Roadmap is informational: it has no vote or suggestion buttons, and it
isn’t a promise of dates. If you miss a feature, write to info@miselup.pro
(the address we already give in Miselup plans to
ask for what is still on the roadmap).
Known limits
- Categories, cuisine types and units from the Miselup catalog can’t be edited or deleted; you can only add your own.
- You can’t create two with the same name in the same block.
- Tags have no ready-made catalog: you start with none.
- Changes in «Categories» only affect your organization.
